“Reflecting Mana”-portraits of Tainui by Alan Bekhuis

An associated small exhibition from the Paul McNamara Gallery, “Reflecting Mana”-portraits of Tainui by Alan Bekhuis is an important collection of ten daguerreotypes which complements the main exhibition. They are Intricately made on silver sensitised with the halogens iodine and bromine. Alan's speciality is to mount daguerrotype portraits, framed and lit in their own boxes. His authentic leather wooden cases are of exceptional quality and are used internationally.
A daguerreotype is an early photographic process produced on iodine/bromine-sensitised silver.
